Redwave's Other Web Commerce Solutions
Redwave Commerce has been building web commerce solutions tailored to company’s requirements for years. The common theme through all of these solutions has been simplicity. The customer wants a solution for a business challenge that requires the participation of their partners in a business process. And they want it to be simple to use, so that it is used. Redwave has worked with these customers to build what they require covering a range of processes, including vendor managed inventory, electronic catalogue integration, dental claims brokering, requests for quotes and delivery schedule collaboration.
Tailored Web Commerce Solutions
Leveraging skills acquired from working in B2B for over ten years and a robust hosted infrastructure platform designed for intercompany document transfer, Redwave Commerce builds web commerce solutions according to the customer’s requirements. In addition Redwave Commerce provides hosting services for the solution and trains, implements and supports the business partners.
By leveraging common components from its existing environment, Redwave is able to have systems up and running surprisingly fast. Their experienced staff will work with you to create a solution that meets your objectives and which is easily understood and implemented by your trading community.
Vendor Managed Inventory
This solution was built for one of North America’s largest electrical utilities to support a move to having their vendors own and manage the inventory maintained at their various facilities. The system tracks product quantities and forecasts (issued, committed, on-hand, on order, etc.) at each facility. The service is automatically fed data by the utility company using standard product movement and forecast transactions. Via the portal, suppliers see the current status of their products which they use as a basis to make replenishment decisions. This solution is of particular value because VMI is a non-standard model for these suppliers and they lack the appropriate internal software to properly manage the inventory remotely. The utility company saves the cost of carrying the inventory without forcing these suppliers to make a significant investment in VMI management software.
Electronic Catalogue Integration
A specialty apparel manufacturer was implementing EDI with customers in order to reduce cost and improve customer service. To encourage the smaller retailers to participate, the manufacturer deployed Redwave’s portal based Web EDI solution so that the retailers weren’t required to make an investment in EDI software and VAN services. To add value to the solution the manufacturer’s catalogue was integrated into the portal. Items selected from the catalogue become line items in the Purchase Order (PO). The submission of the PO starts the normal procurement process and the manufacturer returns a PO Acknowledgement (POA) which includes shipping details. The service was additionally modified to manage charging the retailer’s credit card prior to the shipping date given in the POA.
Dental Claim Brokering
Built for an association this application interfaces between dental office software and the insurance companies’ backend systems. It routes, validates, transforms and tracks data exchanged between these entities. Via the service dentists can validate the patient’s coverage and submit claims receiving immediate acknowledgements. The dental office can also submit requests for adjudication prior to performing procedures so that the dentist and patient can find out how much the insurance company will pay for the procedure. Adjudication requires the ability to attach x-rays to the submission. A portal interface allows the various parties to see an audit history of transactions sent and the related status.
Request for Quotes
In this example, a retailer of industrial products wanted to automate the process of collecting quotes from suppliers. The process begins with the retailer sending a Request for Quote (RFQ) to one or more suppliers. The suppliers are notified of the RFQ via an email which links them to the web commerce site where they can view the document. The supplier then enters their quotes at the line item level. At any time the supplier can see which RFQ transactions still have outstanding line items and continue to quote on those items. An audit history is kept of all transactions with an interface for the retailer and for the suppliers.
Delivery Schedule Collaboration
A provider of engineered products was challenged with its suppliers not delivering according to the agreed schedule. The key issue was that if delivery was going to be delayed the buyer needed to know about it in advance, further the buyer needed a way to change the date if the delivery was required sooner. Built upon Redwave’s platform, the solution is a web commerce site where both buyers and suppliers can see what the agreed upon date is for delivery. Either buyer or seller can propose a change to the date, bringing it in or pushing it out, and the system then notifies the other party who then accepts or declines the change. If accepted the appropriate PO Change transactions are generated. By providing an automated and audited interface for the collaboration around the shipment date the agreed upon shipment date has become reliable.
Load Management
This portal based application connects buyers with suppliers and logistics providers to facilitate management of the fulfillment process. It supports the movement of the required transactions, such as advance ship notices (ASN), load tenders, tender responses and shipment statuses, through the use of forms or the direct application-to-application exchange of EDI documents. Integrated workflow controls the choreography so participants send transactions and update shipment statuses in the defined sequence. Finally it provides a management interface where participants see all the information that is relevant to them as defined by the organizational hierarchy.
Local Grocery
As consumers push grocery retailers to provide locally produced product, the retailer is faced with the challenge of getting these smaller seasonal providers to participate in their e-commerce programs. Redwave Commerce’s Web EDI solution is tailored to these producers, allowing them to send and receive the required transactions without purchasing software, hiring consultants or developing skills. As long as they can connect to the internet they will be able to participate. Event notifications will let them know when they need to do something, and the portal will guide them through what it is they need to do. They incur no set up fees and usage charges only apply for months the service is used.
